The Snake Loop

The Snake Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This trail provides a brief day hike to the high country of Snake Point, with views into the southern part of Glacier National Park. It begins by making a shallow ford of Mule Creek and immediately climbing up a steep skid road onto a clearcut bench. At the far edge of the clearcut, the trail crosses the wilderness boundary and meets the trail coming down from Snake Point.

The easiest way to complete the loop is to keep going straight and attack it from a counterclockwise direction. This trail is the Giefer Creek Trail, and it follows the benches above Giefer Creek through a forest of lodgepole pine and Douglas fir. After a mile of traveling, the trail crosses a small tributary stream and reaches a second junction with the Snake Point Loop."
