Devil Creek

Devil Creek Professional Review and Guide

"This trail provides an access route for backpackers and stock parties bound for the Moose Creek basin. Elk and Moose lakes provide fishing potential, while the scenery is typified by steep but relatively small mountains and subalpine to alpine plant communities.

This trail can be combined with the Vinegar Mountain Trail in several ways to create loop trips of varying lengths. From the Devil Creek campground, the trail climbs steadily southward through the narrow canyon of lower Devil Creek. The canyon soon opens out into a broad valley, and the gradient of the trail eases off into a series of flat benches interspersed with short bursts of climbing. Early on, openings in the forest allow pleasant views of the nameless peaks that surround the upper end of the valley."
