Carthew-Alderson Trail

Carthew-Alderson Trail Professional Review and Guide

"A long day hike or backpack from Cameron Lake to Waterton townsite to Bertha Lake, 3.5 miles (5.5km) one way.

This popular day hike from Waterton townsite follows the shore of Upper Waterton Lake, then climbs a side valley past waterfalls to reach an alpine lake. For travelers that make the climb to the lake, a campground offers opportunities for a short overnighter. The trail begins in a stand of aspens, climbing gradually as it follows the western shore of Upper Waterton Lake.As the trail rises above the lakeshore, there
is a mixed forest of lodgepole pine, fir, and mountain maple."

Wonderful hike. Myself, my son and my grandson made it fine. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Hiked in June of 2007.

Not a bad hike. It does get strenuous at times, but the lake is beautiful and as always up there the views are great. There are some steep climbs, so bring lots of water.
