Troy and Vicinity Professional Review and Guide

"One region of Montana often overlooked by the traveler is the area around Troy in the extreme northwest corner of the state. This rolling, heavily timbered country is drained by the Kootenai River, named after the Kootenai Indian tribe. Translated, Kootenai means “people of the lakes,” an apt name for these masters of fishing and navigation on the big water of this river.

The Kootenai tribe developed the sturgeon-nosed canoe, a combination canoe / kayak that could be easily maneuvered in whitewater. This eTrail provides detailed information on birding strategies for this specific location, the specialty birds and other key birds you might see, directions to each birding spot, and helpful general information."
