Holland Falls National Recreation Trail

Holland Falls National Recreation Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Swan Mountains north of Missoula are a quintessential Montana mountain range. Holland Falls, thundering just above Holland Lake, is one of the natural features that define the state. This hike traces a route on the lakeshore and then winds up to the impressive falls. Pyramid-shaped Carmine Peak is a commanding presence above. The view of the Mission Mountains, Holland Lake, and Holland Falls—all from a natural boulder field platform—is unique. In fall, larch and birch trees add brilliant color to the scene. The waterfall is particularly powerful in spring.

Holland Falls National Recreation Trail is on the edge of the Bob Marshall Wilderness. While a walk into the “the Bob” is an expedition-worthy endeavor, hikers can get a taste of this massive wilderness where Holland Falls rushes into Holland Lake."
