Black Bear Creek

Black Bear Creek Professional Review and Guide

"The Black Bear Creek Trail provides a dead-end valley bottom journey that crosses excellent bear and elk habitat to reach the wild headwaters of Black Bear Creek. From the trailhead, cross the Meadow Creek pack bridge, which spans a deep, rocky gorge bearing the South Fork of the Flathead.

After several miles of forest traveling, the trail reaches an overlook point high above the South Fork. Shortly afterward, the trail forks into two channels. The right fork is a narrow, cliff-hugging path that offers firm footing for hikers. It is by far the more scenic route as well, although it is too narrow for stock parties."
