Phantom Creek Trail to Slough Lake East Rosebud Drainage Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The Phantom Creek Trail is one of two primary routes used to reach 1 2,799-foot Granite Peak, the highest peak in Montana. (The other route is the Huckleberry Lake Trail from Mystic Lake in the West Rosebud drainage.)
This hike takes in the first 2.5 miles of the trail to Slough Lake, paralleling Armstrong Creek. Slough Lake is actually two wide spots of the creek. The 6-acre lake is in a large, glacier-carved meadow surrounded by imposing mountain peaks, including Saddleback Mountain, Froze-to-Death Mountain, Mount Hole-in-the Wall, and Shepard Mountain. Beyond Slough Lake, Armstrong Creek becomes Phantom Creek."
