The Hobnail Tom Trail

The Hobnail Tom Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This trail follows the North Fork of the Blackfoot River to its headwaters deep in the Scapegoat Wilderness. It was named in honor of a longtime local guide who was a strong advocate for the preservation of the Scapegoat Wilderness. The entire North Fork valley burned in 1988, leaving only scattered patches of surviving trees.

The fire opened up views from the trail, but the surrounding mountains are rather low and lack the scenic splendor of the ranges closer to the Continental Divide. Blackfoot Falls provides the only real attraction along the trail."
