Pyramid Lake

Pyramid Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a day hike or overnighter into the Swan Range. This trail, Trail 416, is one of the major entry points to the Bob Marshall Wilderness, so it gets heavy horse traffic. There are no boggy areas, though, so the trail is in great shape all the way. For the first mile, you’re on an old logging road converted to a trail. After that it’s mostly a gradual climb, broken up by a few switchbacks, that doesn’t seem as steep as it actually is.

About a quarter mile below the Pyramid Pass, at mile 4.7, you’ll see an unnamed lake on your left. After you go over the low-profile pass, turn left (northeast) at the junction with Trail 278. Shortly thereafter, turn left on the spur trail to Pyramid Lake. If you aren’t alert you can miss this spur trail and keep heading into the depths of the Bob."
