North Fork Falls

North Fork Falls Professional Review and Guide

"The trail follows the North Fork Blackfoot River into the Scapegoat Wilderness. North Fork Falls forces its way through a narrow portion of the rugged canyon. The devastation from the Canyon Creek Fire of 1988 is evident along the hike, but young forests of aspen, cottonwood, pine, and larch are starting to make a comeback. Shade is scarce, so wear sunscreen or try to take this hike on cooler day.

While certainly doable in a full day of hiking, many hikers will prefer to break the distance into two days and stay a night in the backcountry. The waterfall is located in an area of vertical walls and sheer drops. A fall off the canyon rim could be fatal, so exercise extreme caution."
