Lumberjack Loop

Lumberjack Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This is a challenging alternative to some of the technical rides in this volume. The ride, an isolated loop along logging roads through the Bitterroot Mountains, begins and ends at the legendary Lumberjack Tavern, a ramshackle old bar with giant logs cut into bar stools and an enormous stone fireplace.

Breaks in the forest along the ridgelines allow views of the peaks of the Bitterroot Range at various points, and the country is home to a variety of wildlife. Signs of continued logging remind us that the paraphernalia decorating the Lumberjack Tavern was in use until recently. The loop features a couple of tough climbs and is long enough to make a great training ride for those looking to log miles as well as build technical expertise. Tread: Primarily dirt and gravel logging roads with a short section of paved highway early on."
