The city is often heralded as the “Bicycle Capital” of the United States as it is situated along major bicycle touring routes and is host to national and regional biking events. Enthusiasm for bicycling got started in Missoula when the 25th Infantry Bicycle Corps was housed at Fort Missoula in 1888.
