Boulder Lakes

Boulder Lakes Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A day hike or overnighter into a lush lake basin.

You used to be able to drive 1.5 miles up FR 7229 to the trailhead, but in recent years this section has been closed to vehicles to protect grizzly bear habitat. It is about 13.5 miles from FR92 to Boulder Lakes Trailhead.

If you want to see a subalpine lake without vehicle access, this may be the easiest hike you could take. It’s only 1.5 miles to the Lower Boulder Lake along a slight incline—about 440 feet of elevation gain. The trail is well maintained, and it stays in the woods most of the way. At 2.6 miles, just before the lake, the trail forks."
