Blodgett Canyon Overlook

Blodgett Canyon Overlook Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"New trail with interpretive stations. This trail was constructed after the dramatic Bitterroot fires of 2000. In addition to offering up the best possible view of fabulous Blodgett Canyon, it also gives you a good education on the dynamics of forest fires. The Forest Service has put up six interpretive stations keyed to a free brochure you can pick up at the trailhead. The brochure tells about the different types of forest fires, the impacts on plants and wildlife, and how people can help reduce the impact of fires. Along the trail you can clearly see how nature is reclaiming the landscape after the fire came through. The Blodgett Canyon Overlook trail gradually switchbacks up from the Canyon Lake Trailhead to the ridge overlooking Blodgett Canyon, the next valley to the north."
