Flathead River, South Fork

Flathead River, South Fork Professional Review and Guide

"As one of the last truly wild rivers in the lower 48, the South Fork of the Flathead offers anglers a unique backcountry fly-fishing experience. The South Fork begins in the heart of the Bob Marshall Wilderness at the confluence of Youngs and Danaher creeks and flows north for just over 100 miles to its confluence with the main fork of the Flathead at the town of Hungry Horse.

Access to the South Fork is difficult from any direction. Whether by foot or by horse, the South Fork demands a considerable investment in time and energy before you wet a line.

Types of Fish: Bull & Westslope Cutthroat Trout, Arctic Grayling, Whitefish."
