Tower Street Conservation Area Loop

Tower Street Conservation Area Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This thick Clark Fork River floodplain is a birder’s dream. Fat cottonwoods dominate the foliage here and make a tempting home for beaver. These trees also shelter young morel mushrooms in springtime, available for harvest just before the highwater floods in May. Serenity is abundant here.

The small trailhead parking area is often jammed full, but you can park on nearby Tower Street. Do not park on the private Kerwald Drive. Many locals take advantage of this little-known spot to walk their dogs, shake off the day’s stress at the river’s edge, or throw a fishing line into the water. This is a perfect walk for families, as there are two loops. Walk one loop for a shorter excursion, or take in both to extend your city’s-edge getaway."
