Meadow Loop Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Instead of hiking the traditional Meadow Loop the entire time, try the singletrack Trail 302.8 for a portion of the hike, leading out of the parking area near the Unit A picnic shelter. Cut across the meadow and then trot through the thick wildflower blooms and fat ponderosa pine stands.
Huckleberries ripen here during late July, and black bears frequent the region then, although they can be found poking around the Pattee Canyon Recreation Area any time of year. Hikers will most likely encounter deer and flammulated owls, which nest near the picnic area. Frisbee disc enthusiasts share the area, as do cross-country skiers in winter."
