Lolo Trail at Howard Creek

Lolo Trail at Howard Creek Professional Review and Guide

"This section of rugged singletrack path is the original trail used by Nez Perce Indians and the Lewis and Clark expedition. You can put your foot exactly where their moccasins and boots once tread.

This is a National Historic Trail designated to commemorate both parties. The trail is a rough go, steep at first; then it traverses parklike ponderosa stands and jagged rocky outcrops. You can turn around at any point, making this hike as long or as short as you wish. If you want to truly follow in the footsteps of those intrepid travelers, shuttle your vehicle or arrange for a ride and hike all the way to Lolo Hot Springs."
