West Baldy Basin Trail from the Livingston Peak Trailhead Professional Review and Guide
"Walk past the trail gate on the Livingston Peak Tie Trail, a 2-track dirt road. Follow the road through the open pine forest. Make a wide U-bend to the left, with a straighton view of pyramid-shaped Livingston Peak. At the far end of the bend is a horse watering trough and a trail sign at a half mile. Bear right on the footpath and go 80 yards to a gate, located at a junction with the West Baldy Basin Trail and the Absaroka- Beartooth Wilderness on a ridge overlooking Suce Creek Canyon. The right fork—Hike 99—descends 3 miles to the Suce Creek Trailhead in Paradise Valley. Bear left on the West Baldy Basin Trail, skirting the outside edge of the wilderness. Climb at a moderate grade to the north rim of Lost Creek Canyon. The trail levels out and follows the lip of the forested canyon. Livingston Peak looms close by, along with vistas across Lost Creek Canyon, Suce Creek Canyon, and far-reaching views of Paradise Valley and the Gallatin Range."
