George Lake Professional Review and Guide
"George Lake (also known as Shorthill Lake) is a high-alpine lake that sits in a depression on the lower west slope of Black Mountain. The tree-lined lake has a rocky shoreline and a towering rock wall to the east that rises 1,600 feet above the lake. The trail traverses the western slope of the Absaroka Range just outside of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, with vast views overlooking Paradise Valley, the Yellowstone River, and the east face of the Gallatin Range. En route, the trail crosses Barney Creek and Cascade Creek."
