The East Fork of the Blackfoot

The East Fork of the Blackfoot Professional Review and Guide

"This valley-bottom route, also known as the “Mainline” trail, connects the North Fork of the Blackfoot with the Indian Meadows area. This valley was burned in the Canyon Creek fire, but substantial patches of timber were spared, creating a mosaic pattern on the landscape.

The burned patches will be less susceptible to fire in the future and will serve as natural fire brakes to prevent the expansion of fire into the catastrophic proportions seen in 1988. The East Fork Trail is very popular with elk hunters and outfitters in the fall, but receives a much lower level of use during the summer."
