Lodgepole Trail to Lower Deer Creek N.W. Stillwater Watershed Professional Review and Guide
"Lodgepole Creek, nine miles northwest of Nye, forms on the southern flank of Sugarloaf Mountain at the Custer National Forest boundary. The area, ravished from the Derby Fire in the summer of 2006, is an amazing study in the natural recovery and regeneration of the flora.
The Lodgepole Trail climbs strenuously up the canyon along the creek to a 7,1 00-foot saddle at the Gallatin National Forest boundary. The trail drops down the slope to Lower Deer Creek, where this hike ends. However, the trail crosses the creek and continues west to the Elk Creek Divide and the East Boulder Valley (Hike 82), the next major drainage to the west."
