"This 175-mile drive passes through the rainy pine, spruce, and fir forests of northwest Montana. It winds along rivers, over a steep mountain pass, and along the shores of narrow Lake Koocanusa. This scenic drive is one of two that wind their way through Montana’s western rain forests. Hundreds of square miles of hiking trails make Kootenai National Forest a great place for those seeking solitude.
