Cedar Lakes and Scenery Mountain

Cedar Lakes & Scenery Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"Hikers who don’t mind the likelihood of skipping over a few horse muffins consider this one of the prettiest hikes in the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness.

Cedar Lakes are nestled in the midst of towering peaks. A short climb from the lakes puts hikers in position to see Kootenai Falls on the Kootenai River and a distant look into Glacier National Park. Ambitious hikers tack on a scramble of Dome Mountain or extend this trip into a multi-day loop."

The lakes are nice. DO NOT try to do the trail as a loop. The trail from Cedar Lakes to Scenery Mountain has not been maintained since the fire in 1998. It was non-exsistent at times. It sure seemed longer than what the trail guide says. It is not recommended to those who are uncomfortable going cross country.
