Camas Hot Springs

Camas Hot Springs Professional Review and Guide

"Two hot outdoor soaking pools in the shadow of an abandoned bathhouse in the sleepy town of Hot Springs.

The two cement pools make for marvelous soaks that draw an eclectic mix of long-time residents of Hot Springs, newcomers to the area, and national and foreign visitors. The larger pool, a 10-foot by 15-foot concrete rectangle about 4 feet deep, attracts the most bathers. The 8-foot-diameter second pool is located about 10 yards north of the first pool. Locals fill their water jugs at a nearby tap with the sulfurous water to drink for therapeutic purposes. Developed."

Went for a dip in the winter. Temps were nice and warm - warm enough that you eventually had to get out to cool off a bit. There was an outdoor shower and hose, but they were shut off for the winter, so I had to use a combination of spring water and snow to make a cold bucket of water to douse myself with. The manager came by and chatted a bit, and said that he doesn't want people to use the mud foot bath anymore (because people were tracking mud into the soaking pool). There was a suggested donation of $5 - definitely worth it.
