Ackley Lake

Ackley Lake Professional Review and Guide

"Ackley Lake is a small, 250-acre reservoir on the open plains of central Montana. A water canal from the Judith River feeds the reservoir; therefore, the bottom is generally quite muddy. Because it is used for irrigation storage, the water level fluctuates somewhat mid- to late summer, depending on the year.

Because Ackley Lake is a multiple-use reservoir, fishing success depends on how severe irrigation draw-down is and when it occurs. FWP has defined the minimum depth to be 10 feet, so there should always be some water left in the reservoir. Angling at Ackley is divided between trolling and shore-fishing."
