Great Falls and the Surrounding Area

Great Falls and the Surrounding Area Professional Review and Guide

"The roar of the cascading water led Captain Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to these five falls and Giant Springs—important landmarks on the Missouri River. The town of Great Falls was literally built around the Missouri River, and in the early 1870s Great Falls became a major trade center because of it.

The destinations include: Broadwater Overlook: Great Falls Visitor Center, The C.M. Russell Museum, Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, Children's Museum of Montana, Great Falls Historic Trolley, Malmstrom Air Force Base Open Air Park, Mitchell Park and Public Pool, Gibson and Riverside Parks, River's Edge Trail, Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center, Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks Visitor Center; Giant Springs Heritage State Park, Lewis and Clark Overlook and the Cochrane Dam Trail, Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Ryan Dam and Falls Overlook and Picnic Area, Mehmke's Steam Engine Museum, and Ulm Pishkun State Park Buffalo Jump and Visitor Center."
