B Bar Guest Ranch Professional Review and Guide
"B Bar Ranch is a working cattle operation on the edge of Yellowstone National Park in a scenic, high-mountain basin frequented by moose, bison, elk, wolves, lynx, eagles, and other wildlife. This turn-of-the-century homestead ranch in Tom Miner Basin was once a community with more than thirty families. The ranch owns and manages a conservation herd of Ancient White Park cattle, raises and works Suffolk Punch draft horses, and runs a commercial herd of natural beef cattle on the 9,000 deeded acres and 11,000 acres of national forest. Winter guests stay in spacious lodge rooms or A-frame cabins and dine on the ranch-grown beef, wild game, organic vegetables from the summer garden, and homemade breads.
Families love the 40 kilometers of groomed ski trails and participate in telemarking, snowshoeing, sledding, wagon rides, and skijoring. Weekend day skiers are welcome on the trails; a trail fee applies. Nordic ski instructors and guides take skiers and snowshoers on tours of the ranch and reveal its rich natural history. Yellowstone Park ski tours in the Lamar Valley and the Tower Falls area can be arranged through the ranch. The ranch’s southern boundary is Yellowstone National Park. Surface quality: Machine-groomed and horse-drawn grooming."
