Nez Perce Peak

Nez Perce Peak Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is an unusually scenic out-and-back hike into some very interesting country. The route is best known as the Southern Nez Perce Trail and follows portions of the We-sa-iss-kit (South Camp Trail), the southernmost of three aboriginal routes across the Bitterroots used by the Salish and Nez Perce peoples to access their traditional buffalo hunting grounds on the Northern Plains.

Given that much of the trail was not constructed but rather developed over time, the route seems quite primitive and should appeal for hikers with a preference for trails with lots of ups and downs."
