Tamarack Lake

Tamarack Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A moderate backpacking trek into the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness. This spot may not be a secret, but it is still special, especially to those who share its natural gifts. Rainbow Lake, since it was first published in Hiking Montana, has increasingly been a popular destination of local hikers and vacationers.

Be especially careful to maintain a zero-impact ethic when visiting this lake (and Johnson Lake). Years of use have trampled vegetation and reduced wood supply, so use a stove
instead of a campfire to cook. The snow usually clings to Rainbow Pass until at least late June, so mid-July or later is best for this hike."
