Hollow Top Lake

Hollow Top Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"At the trailhead you get a sense for the local interests. A large Forest Service sign proclaims ATVS AND MOTORCYCLES WELCOME. This is an ominous sign for hikers and backcountry horseman, but it’s not quite as bad as it sounds. After 1.5 miles, most ATVs turn off and head up to Albro Lake. A few motorcycles go to Hollow Top Lake, but not many, and if you hike this during the week, you probably won’t see any—and you’ll have a nice hike to a beautiful lake basin.

From the trailhead North Willow Creek Trail 301 crosses a bridge and then gradually climbs along the north side of the creek. In the spring watch for fuzzy blue pasque flowers in the grassy meadows."

Great hike!! We went to Pitamakan and then on to Atlantic Creek for the night. We would have not gone so far but all the other campgrounds were closed due to grizzly activity. You defintely saw a lot of activity on this trail. Make lots of noise. Although the hike is not for beginners, the views are breath taking from the pass and well worth the effort.
