Fairmont Hot Springs Resort Professional Review and Guide

"A popular destination resort located between Anaconda and Butte, featuring two large recreational pools and two soaking pools. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort has some of the largest natural hot water pools in Montana. Guests and visitors have their choice of a variety of pools. The natural hot springs are enclosed in cedar-shingled holding tanks located near the wildlife zoo. Two swimming pools use hot water from a 160-degree-F geothermal well located about 1,700 feet north of the resort.

Both the large indoor pool (measuring 45 feet by 128 feet) and the giant outdoor pool (59 feet by 164 feet) are heated to between 87 and 92 degrees F. Adjacent to the swimming pools are two soaking pools that are kept between 100 and 105 degrees F. The outdoor soaking pool, a 30-foot by 50-foot oasis of warmth, is especially popular in the winter, when hardy bathers make a quick dash to the outdoor swimming pool, then swim across it to reach the hot soaking pool out in the snow and steam. The less-adventurous winter visitor can stay in the 48-foot by 16-foot indoor soaking pool. Developed."
