Butte Area Campgrounds Professional Review and Guide

"History permeates Butte and its environs, which has no shortage of relics. Gold first brought miners into this rich location, but copper soon topped the list. There is still gold and some copper here, along with other metals, but the real treasure is the mountain terrain hiding the majority of the campgrounds. Wildlife is plentiful so keep the camera handy. A bull moose wandered through the Philipsburg Bay campground at Georgetown Lake during our visit. He very much looked the part of a property owner checking up on tenants. The majority of campgrounds in this area are off the main roads. Consequently, only the local residents tend to frequent them. This can be both good and bad, but suffice it to say the better ones are full by Friday night.

This eTrail contains detailed descriptions of the following campgrounds: Delmoe Lake, Toll Mountain, Pigeon Creek, Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park, Lowland, Mormon Creek, Ladysmith, Whitehouse, Basin Canyon, Racetrack, Orofino, Lost Creek State Park, Warm Springs, Spring Hill, Cable Mountain, Lodgepole, Philipsburg Bay, Piney, Stony, Flint Creek, East Fork, Spillway, Copper Creek, and Beaver Dam."
