Sage Creek Campground Professional Review and Guide
"In the words of Chief Arapooish, “The Crow Country is a good country. The Great Spirit has put it in exactly the right place; while you are in it you fare well; whenever you go out of it, whichever way you may travel, you fare worse.” Sage Creek is perched near the heart of the Pryor Mountains in a landscape that is sacred to the Crow (Apsáalooke) Tribe. The home of another Crow leader, Chief Plenty Coups, is preserved as a state park, in Pryor.
Although there was nothing they could do to change the intense summer heat, the new design does address the lack of shade. New plantings of green ash, ponderosa pine, and cottonwoods help mitigate the fact that trees are hard to come by out here. Shade screens over each picnic table help as well."
