South Fork Trail to Pioneer Falls

South Fork Trail to Pioneer Falls Professional Review and Guide

"The Spanish Creek Road to the trailhead is a public access road through Ted Turner’s Flying D Ranch. The drive through the ranch has spectacular views. The hiking trail parallels the South Fork of Spanish Creek.

Gallatin Peak, Beacon Point and Blaze Mountain are in full view high above the trail. A series of switchbacks along the Falls Creek Trail leads to the 40-foot, full-bodied Pioneer Falls."

I had done this hike before multiple times when visitors came in town because of the scenic drive on Turner's property and the buffalo of course, but this time the hike itself was worth it. The falls are definitely best seen in spring and, unlike most Galltin trails in spring, there was no snow creating an impass. I highly reccomend this one for an early hike.
