Kirk Hill Loop 2

Kirk Hill (Loop 2) Professional Review and Guide

"The Kirk Hill trails are interpretive loop trails highlighting information about the surrounding plant life. Kirk Hill sits above Leverich Canyon and Hodgman Canyon and borders the Gallatin National Forest.

From the top, a trail connects Kirk Hill to Bozeman Creek and the Hyalite Creek divide. The Loop 2 Trail is the largest and steepest of the three loop trails."

This is a beautiful trail, rather steep, but well worth the work. My two kids love it and there is a great picnicking spot at the top that overlooks the valley. If you continue one to loop 3, you come to a trail that leads off onto the ridge, follow that and you get to a fire road, follow that and you can loop to Leverich Canyon, a nice 4 hour hike or so. Shuttle cars and get a map of the forest service roads so you don't miss the trail head to Leverich Canyon.
