Hood Creek Trail to Wild Horse Creek

Hood Creek Trail to Wild Horse Creek Professional Review and Guide

"The Hood Creek Trail #436 is also known as the Wild Horse Creek Trail. The trail parallels Hood Creek but the creek is never within sight or sound. The trail heads up the foothills of Palisade Mountain to great overlooks of the Hyalite Creek drainage, the East Fork of Hyalite Creek drainage, Mount Blackmore and the Hyalite Reservoir. The trail eventually leads to Mystic Lake and is also part of an 8.5-mile loop hike with the Lick Creek Road.

Hike back up the campground road to the signed trailhead on the east side of the main road. Head uphill to the northeast through the forest, and cross an old jeep road. Wide, sweeping switchbacks weave up the hill to an overlook of Hyalite Lake and Mount Blackmore."
