Sundance Pass Professional Review and Guide
"A moderately long but not too challenging backpacking trip through spectacular mountain scenery, especially the view from Sundance Pass. This well-maintained and heavily used trail is not only one of the most scenic in the Beartooths, but it’s only a short drive from the Billings area. You can make this hike a three-day trip, staying one night in the Lake Fork of Rock Creek and another in the West Fork of Rock Creek.
Although nicely suited to a three-day/two-night trip, the route also offers many scenic side trips. Plan an extra day or two in the back-country for exploring them. This trail offers absolutely spectacular scenery. From Sundance Pass, for example, vistas include 12,000-foot mountains, such as 12,548-foot Whitetail Peak, and the Beartooth Plateau, a huge mass of contiguous land above 10,000 feet."
