Aero Lakes

Aero Lakes Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A base camp backpacking adventure to the stark beauty of this high plateau area and a wide diversity of potential side trips.

This trailhead is slightly harder to locate than most others in the Beartooths, but that hasn’t lessened its popularity. The area has lots to offer, and it receives heavy use both by locals and by those who travel from afar for a chance to experience this spectacular wild area. Even in the 2 miles of gravel road to the trailhead, the contrast between this area and the pristine wilderness is clearly evident."

"A base-camp backpacking adventure to the stark beauty of this high plateau area with a wide diversity of potential side trips. You could hike into Aero Lakes and out the same day, but that would be a shame. Instead, plan on a long day hike to get to the lakes and spend the extra time finding an idyllic campsite. Then spend two or three days exploring this incredible high country." Read more
