Many Glacier Valley, Glacier National Park Professional Review and Guide
"The east side is the place to observe waterfalls! In fact, the Blackfeet name for the Many Glacier area is Óhpskunakáxi, meaning waterfalls. In addition to the numerous waterfall hikes listed in this section, there are many other eastside hikes which follow ridges and go over passes to the glacial valleys. Some of these could certainly be handled by older children. For more information, call park headquarters. The Many Glacier Valley reveals some of Glacier National Park’s most spectacular scenery. A 4,200-foot cliff wall towers majestically above the valley.
Nearby is one of the largest glaciers in the park, Grinnell Glacier. Trails lead in three directions from Many Glacier, into areas of outstanding alpine beauty. Most of these hikes are strenuous uphill climbs, which require some stamina and determination. However, the lake and falls trails listed here are excellent, easy trips that allow families to enjoy nature’s powerful presence without paying for it with difficult hikes. There are boat tours on Swiftcurrent and Josephine lakes. Rowboats, canoes, and horses are available for rent. This eTrail provides detailed information on family-friendly things to do. The destinations include: Many Glacier Hotel, Apikuni Falls, Swiftcurrent Lake, and Redrock Falls."
