Blacktail Creek

Blacktail Creek Professional Review and Guide

"This trail follows a wooded gulch, providing direct and relatively easy access to the South Fork of Deep Creek and connections to the Cabin Creek and Biggs Creek trails. Ultimately, the reef to the west is broken by a tributary stream, guarded by rocky portals.

The main trail continues north through a bottomland forest of lodgepole pine and Douglas fir. Two avalanche slopes afford views of the reef to the west, and before long the path makes an ankle-deep ford of Blacktail Creek. On the east bank is a picturesque meadow, and high peaks can be glimpsed through the treetops as the trail visits a second clearing."
