Zimmerman Wilshire Park

Zimmerman (Wilshire) Park Professional Review and Guide

"Zimmerman Park (also known as Wilshire Park) is a natural area that sits atop the rims just west of Zimmerman Trail Road and Highway 3. Billings service clubs purchased the parkland from the Zimmermans in 1 938. It is a popular spot for hiking, mountain biking, jogging, dog walking, and rock climbing. The trails vary from easy cliff-side trails to steep slickrock slopes. The sweeping vistas across Yellowstone Valley take in five mountain ranges—the Bighorns, Pryors, Beartooths, Crazies, and the Snowies."

More Zimmerman (Wilshire) Park Professional Reviews and Guides

"Billings lies in a valley lined by dramatic sandstone formations known as the Rimrocks. They were formed from thick deposits of sand that accumulated as barrier islands along the coast of an ancient inland sea. The landmark frames the north and east sides of the city. The Zimmerman Trail skirts the edge of the eroding sedimentary bluffs along the north side of Billings. Throughout the hike are amazing views of the city, river valley, and surrounding mountain ranges. This hike begins from the west end of the Zimmerman Trail. The footpath follows the weather-sculpted cliffs east through scattered pine groves."
