Southaven and Olive Branch, MS Professional Review and Guide

"The drive is a straight shot and takes only about fifteen minutes, which puts you smack dab in Southaven, otherwise known as the Top of Mississippi and the former home of author John Grisham. You’ll also be in De Soto County, named for the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto, who traveled the area back in 1539. Some other—less famous—county locals are buried in the old Edmonson Cemetery on Stateline Road.

A stroll through the grounds reveals the final resting place of Anna Leigh McCorkle, author of Tales of Old Whitehaven. Though there’s not a whole lot to do in this slow southern town, there’s golf to be played here and in neighboring towns. Memphians make the trip to the greens at North Creek in Southaven as well as other popular courses in Olive Branch weekly."
