Fontainebleau Walking Trail

Fontainebleau Walking Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Experience the transitional Gulf habitat of Mississippi along the Fontainebleau Loop at the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge. While short in length, the loop opens up this world of bayhead swamps, pine savannahs, and pine forests to those who venture out. Orchids, pitcher plants, and pine savannah grasses greet you around every turn as you make your way around a salt marsh and to the banks of Davis Bayou.

The Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge is the second of two refuges in coastal Mississippi, the other being Grand Bay. Located in Ocean Springs just north of Ocean Springs Middle School, the refuge is an oasis in the middle of the town, preserving a rich transitional habitat from bayhead swamps to pine savannahs and forests along the banks of Davis Bayou."
