Roosevelt State Park offers numerous recreation opportunities, one of which is hiking. The trail system here rolls through the hills and hollows and mixes in a little human and natural history. This is one of the original Mississippi state parks, first developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It has been updated through the years, however. The road splits just beyond the park entrance station. Here, the Lakeview Trail heads left and the Muscadine Trail heads right. Take the Muscadine Trail, walking under a cedar arch-way to immediately enter the hilly woods with pines, dogwood, oak, hickory, cherry, and sweetgum all draped in a healthy dose of muscadine vines.
