Leflore Trail at Malmaison WMA Professional Review and Guide
"This trail system, which combines human and natural history on the edge of the Delta, has had a recent facelift. Hike through the Loess Hills to a historic cemetery and the homesite of an early Mississippi settler, Jackson Leflore. Pass through a pecan grove to finish your loop.
First, make sure and fill out a user permit at the trailhead before you hit the Long Trail. Lush woods, including ash, magnolia, and cypress, veil the hills and the adjoining clear creek. Its waters, shaded by sycamore, flow over a sand bed into Beauty Bayou, which forms in the Delta beyond these hills. Travel betwixt steep bluffs to your left and the meandering watercourse to your right. By now you may have noticed the old interpretive signs that have been placed along the trail. Perhaps they will be replaced or refurbished in the future. Occasional wooden benches stand trailside for your resting and contemplation."
