Grenada, Mississippi Professional Review and Guide
"The charming little town of Grenada is undergoing some big changes, especially downtown. This small town had quite an unusual beginning. Its roots lie in a literal marriage between two dueling towns—Pittsburg and Tullahoma. The area was settled in the 1830s, and the two towns were separated by a surveyor’s line, which is still marked today as Line Street. The plan to merge the two towns included marrying a bride and groom from each town, and finishing off the ceremony with a barbecue dinner.
Unfortunately, before dinner was ever served, the people of Pittsburg became disgruntled by the selection of names for the new town. Finally, they agreed on Grenada, and the rest, as they say, is history. This eTrail from the DayTrips series describes many fascinating, exciting, (and many free of charge) things to do, most within a two-hour drive of Memphis. Each Day Trip includes, destination highlights, places to visit along the way, choice restaurants and lodging, and shopping."
