This area will get you to one of the nicest private campsites on the Buffalo. Lovely place to park and take the trail at the far left on campground. Goes up hill alittle and then drops down to one of 4 river crossings. At 4th crossing, just across river to right is a spring just under edge of water coming out of hole, underwater! Trail mainly on the level and crossings are normally waist or less. During high water just go left just after trail begins up the hill to homestead and back down to campsite. After the 4th crosssing go uphill for 150 yards and then on to a campsite from dreams. This site has level area, shade, fire wood, bluff to jump off into a gorgeous pool on the Buffalo. This is Horseshoe Bend and just across the river and down to right, a 3/4 mile hike from river is Hemmed in Hollow the tallest waterfall between the AT and the Rockies.
It is 200+ ranging from a thin veil to heavy during high water. Across river from campsite and to left is Sneeds Creek, hike up this creek for a rock slab as big as 2 football fields in the center a pool shaped like a guitar, I call Elvis Hole. Beautiful smaller waterfalls up stream. Bold hikers wanting tougher challenge come in from Compton Trail head, it's easy going down in but a whole different thing coming back up. Many scenic spots in this area, come backpacking here!
