North Fork of the White River MO 14 Twin Bridges to Norfork Lake

North Fork of the White River: MO 14 (Twin Bridges) to Norfork Lake Professional Review and Guide

"The North Fork of the White River begins in the Mark Twain National Forest and flows to the south for approximately 78 miles before it empties into Norfork Lake. It is similar to the Eleven Point, Jack’s Fork, and Current Rivers but contains more exciting class II rapids than the others. An abundance of springs keeps the water level almost constant year-round and the water quality excellent. Canoe outfitters and swimmers are numerous during the spring and summer months.

At times, you can see as many people floating in the crystal-clear water as paddling in boats. Paddlers can expect a relatively swift current that moves at approximately 4 miles per hour over moderate drops to form small standing waves and rapids. The banks are lined with hardwood trees, and there are few manmade structures visible from the river. Its national forest surroundings add to the feeling of a wilderness float."
