"A 7-mile drive beginning in Van Buren, crossing the Current River following the Forest Service’s Skyline Drive, and ending at Big Spring. Van Buren is the headquarters for the National Park Service’s Ozark National Scenic Riverways. The riverways system includes both the Current and the Jacks Fork, a total of 134 miles of managed river. To help protect the river systems, 80,788 acres of land (61,374 of them federally owned) border the rivers.
The riverways celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary in 1989. Special attractions: Van Buren, Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Skyline Drive, Big Spring, Big Spring Pines Natural Area, and Mark Twain National Forest; floating, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, boating, hunting, fall colors, and spring wildflowers.
